What is Perversify.net?
Perversify.net is a translation service, for amusement purposes. It is intended to inject mild profanity in to otherwise clean English text, in a way which does not alter the meaning of the original text.
How does it work?
Unlike similar services which perform word substitution, Perversify.net tries to deliver enhanced content, whilst retaining the original meaning of the text. The main method of achieving this is through the addition of adjectives. In order to do this, Perversify.net uses a database of English words, classified in to more than a dozen categories. A word may, as is often the case in English, have more than one classification. Adjectives are typically inserted before nouns or between adjectives, with adherence to the royal order of adjectives. Improving the classification is ongoing.
Example from the Wikipedia article on the 'Internet' with various translation services...
Original text:
"Internet is a short form of the technical term internetwork, the result of interconnecting computer networks with special gateways or routers. The Internet is also often referred to as the Net. "
Pornolize.com:
"Internet is a short form of the thrusting technical term internetwork, the raunching result of interconnecting computer dripps with special spanks or routers. The "Cuntcleaner" Internet is also often smacked to as the Net. "
Perversify.net was originally intended as an alternative to Pornolize.com, which was inaccessible for a period of time. Pornolize.com makes extensive use of word substitutions as well as word insertions, often destroying meaning, such as is the case with "...computer dripps with special spanks or routers."
Dialectizer (Redneck):
"Internet is a sho't fo'm of th' technical term internetwawk, th' result of interconneckin' computer netwawks wif special gateways o' routers. Th' Internet is also offen referred t'as th' Net. "
The Dialectizer takes a different approach from Pornolize.com and Perversify.net, in that it relies on substitutions to create badly formed English. This approach is very simple, and it works exceptionally well. It serves a different purpose from Pornolize.com and Perversify.net, and is significantly less error prone. Unfortunately, deliberately bad English is not what we are looking for here at Perversify.net.
Perversify.net:
"Internet is a short fucking form of the technical term internetwork, the damned result of interconnecting computer networks with special gateways or routers. The bloody Internet is also often referred to as the fucking Net."
Is there support for other languages?
No. If you wish to add profanity to other languages, Pornolize.com supports multiple languages. Perversify.net is designed to parse English in a context-sensitive way, adhering to basic rules of the language, such as the specific ordering of adjectives. As such, it is not compatible with other languages.
Copyright
Perversify.net is a tool which retrieves content at the request of users, and creates a parody work using the content. The creation of a parody is considered fair use, and distribution is limited to the requesting party. Perversify.net does not store content, nor claim any ownership of original or derived content.
Excluding your site
Perversify.net believes that publishers should embrace the fact that browsing through this site recognises the popularity and relevance of their content. If for some reason you strongly object to your users accessing your content through our service, you may exclude Web pages using the following META tag...
<meta name="perversify.net" content="disallow">
The string "perversify.net" also appears in the User-Agent header of any request made through our service.
How about robots.txt?
Perversify.net performs no automated crawling of content, and processes content only on explicit request from users. The service essentially behaves the way an HTTP proxy behaves, with the exception that under no circumstances is the content cached. The only step which is automated is the following of redirects which would normally be done by browsers. As such, this service does not meet the definition of a Web Robot, and support for robots.txt is not implemented.
IPv6 Support
Perversify.net is committed to being accessible via IPv6, and providing perversification of IPv6-enabled Web sites prior to World IPv6 Launch Day, 6 June 2012.
